Expansion of real estate and energy practice with a new team of fifteen

By recruiting experienced lawyers, we are swiftly expanding our real estate and energy practices in Munich and Frankfurt. By the first of Octobre 2021 a well-established team of fifteen lawyers specialising in real estate transactions and financing, private and public-sector building law, procurement as well as energy law has joined our firm and is assisting our highly regarded partners Professor Antje Boldt (PhD) and Steffen Holatka in Frankfurt and Dr Michael Grünwald, Dr Wolfgang Patzelt, Dr Daniel Pflüger and Dr Florian Hänle in Munich. Due to these changes, the number of staff at our Munich office increased by eleven and at our Frankfurt office by four.

This means that, in one stroke, we are significantly enhancing the expertise of RITTERSHAUS in the field of real estate and building law and in the energy sector. The outstanding competence of the new partners is going to systematically strengthen our existing real estate and energy consultancy business. Hence, we continue to focus on holistic and innovative methods of consultancy. The innovative model of integrated project development adopted by the new practice team fits in very well with the mediation-driven advice provided by RITTERSHAUS. When handling large-scale projects, the teams shall from now on join forces to try new ways of avoiding and settling disputes and arguments.

With its expertise in real estate and its knowledge of the building and energy sector, the dynamically growing team will be in an even better position, in the future, to comprehensively look after real estate covering its entire life cycle from project acquisition and financing, via procuring of building rights and project realisation to its sale.

By working together with the well-established real estate practice headed by partners Dr Felix Klemt, Dr Hartmut Fischer, Dr Andreas Torka and Dr Christoph Rung (all based in Mannheim) as well as Bernhard Naujack (Frankfurt) RITTERSHAUS will finally be able to compete against highly specialised law firms that focus on real estate, both as far as advising local councils as well as private investors and project developers are concerned.

To us, this is another step, within the strategic development of our organisation, towards becoming one of the leading corporate law firms in Germany. We have all along consistently embraced specialisation and innovation. Only recently we attracted attention with our company law practice, which deals with a wide range of issues, advising the Tübingen-based mRNA developer CureVac and with our private client practice, which is considered a market leader in the field.

With our newly recruited colleagues the reputation of our Munich office will once more be significantly enhanced. This will help us to sharpen our profile in Munich. Based on a shared understanding of a law firm culture that is driven by professionalism, ambition, and friendly interaction, it will not take long until the new teams have merged into one unit. Together, we shall continue to take a broader view beyond the purely legal field to ensure that we will always attract the cleverest and most talented young candidates.

Overall, this step will increase the number of people working in our organisation to 85. These days, more than one third of our staff are women – with more likely to join us in the future.
